An unexpected feature of the Tramway is a surviving equestrian staircase which led to 8 stables on the first floor with 36 horses per stable. The example, below, of early semi-detached houses in Pollokshields shows that the original dwellings were much more modest in size and in the extent of their garden grounds compared to those which would come later.

its good to know that old fashioned workmanship is still around in Glasgow and traditional construction skills haven't been completely overtaken by the modern world.
